Our volunteer team are essential to making Camp Kulin happen! Aged 16-77, they come from all kinds of backgrounds and contribute around $500,000 of their time to our program each year. Anyone can volunteer, as long as they like working with kids, have a great sense of humour, are willing to participate in activities along with the campers and have/can get a Working With Children Check and Police Clearance.
The role of a Camp Kulin volunteer requires patience and energy! Activities taken part in during the week can include swimming, the giant Kulin Waterslide, excursions, team challenges, Quiz Night Tanya Style, My Kitchen Rules, circus skills, gaga dodgeball, giant human foosball and 9 Square in the Air. Our team have been known to make and play with slime, moonlight as pirates or mermaids, paint their faces, start water balloon ambushes and anything else required to give our campers the best week of their lives!
There are three main roles for volunteers at Camp Kulin are:
Run either the boys or girls dormitory, mentor camp counsellors and assist management with the general running of camp.
Be a group leader for an allocated group of campers (usually between 3 and 5 campers), participate in all activities and be a positive role model for campers. Camp counsellors may also be allocated to do one on one work with campers requiring additional assistance.
Manage the kitchen and assist with catering duties. All instructions are provided, and kitchen team also get to join in with activities too!
Camp Kulin is a placement for students at many of WA’s top universities and TAFE for students studying youth work, community development, social work, psychology, criminal justice, preventative health and many more. Last year we had 70 prac students attend Camp Kulin. Please contact us for more information.
The minimum time commitment required to be a Camp Kulin volunteer is 5 days, and camps run during all school holiday periods. Training is provided prior to camp.
